Program Overview

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program features a project-centered international experience designed to bring global business to life. This immersive trip is required for Cohort MBA students and optional for Flex MBA students, with travel taking place approximately halfway through the fall semester.

Through BA 5368A, students explore the complexities of the global economy—examining international trade patterns, financial performance, capital flows, business practices, inequality, and the role of international organizations. The international experience deepens this learning by placing students directly within the economic, cultural, and business context of the host country. Participants gain firsthand insight into the forces shaping growth and development in a dynamic global market.

Because students participate during their final semester, the experience also incorporates a student-led consulting project in MGT 5313, completed in collaboration with an international host company. Working on-site, students build meaningful client relationships, assess real organizational challenges, and deliver strategic, actionable recommendations. This hands-on engagement provides not only global exposure, but also a powerful capstone experience that integrates strategy, leadership, and cross-cultural communication.

The international trip is more than travel—it is a transformative professional opportunity that strengthens global awareness, consulting skills, and executive presence.

Students are encouraged to apply for and secure a passport if they do not already have one. International students should begin the visa application process as early as possible to ensure timely participation.

Accommodations and Culture

The group will be staying in the Courtyard Lima Miraflores, in one of Lima’s most vibrant neighborhoods – Miraflores.

Lima is the capital of Peru, lies on the country's arid Pacific coast, and has a significant amount of colonial architecture – it was one of South America’s largest commercial hubs during the Spanish rule. Lima has more than 10 million people, it is renowned for its diverse and vibrant cuisine (especially ceviche) and has 3 of the top 10 restaurants in South America – the food is great!

We encourage program participants to take this opportunity to visit other places in the region, like Machu Picchu, the ancient Incan citadel located high in the Andes Mountains of Peru (accessible through a short flight to Cusco).
