LOMBARD, Illinois — The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) recently announced the winners of the 2025 E. Grosvenor Plowman Award, presented at the Academic Research Symposium (ARS) during CSCMP’s EDGE Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition in National Harbor, Maryland.

Among the finalists were two scholars from the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University: Dr. Joshua Schumm, assistant professor in the Department of Management, and Vaishnavi Ayyalasomayajula, graduate instructional assistant in the Department of Management and a graduate student in the Master of Science in Data Analytics and Information Systems program. Their co-authors included Dr. Zoe Schumm of Penn State University-Erie and Michael Dwyer, a Ph.D. candidate at Iowa State University. Their research paper was titled, “Flexibility on the Factory Floor: Bridging the Barriers to the Benefits of Gig and Flexible Labor in U.S. Manufacturing”

The 2025 E. Grosvenor Plowman Award was presented to Reza Karim (Iowa State University), Peter Ralston (Iowa State University), and Saurabh Ambulkar (University of Texas at Arlington) for their paper, “Tariffs and Global Supply Chain Strategy (FTZ Activation).”

About the Plowman Award
The E. Grosvenor Plowman Award is presented annually to the best research paper at the Academic Research Symposium. Named in honor of E. Grosvenor Plowman, a lifetime supporter of CSCMP and the logistics profession, the award has recognized outstanding supply chain research for more than 30 years. Recipients are selected by the Editorial Review Panel for their contribution to advancing theory and practice in supply chain management.
