AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Bankers Foundation is thrilled to announce its financial support to the highly-anticipated banking program at Texas State University's McCoy College of Business. The $100,000 contribution reflects the organization’s unwavering commitment to education.

Hazel Davis, Chair of the Texas Bankers Foundation and Vice President at Jefferson Bank in San Antonio, expressed her enthusiasm for this new venture, stating, "This is an exciting opportunity for central Texas students, and it demonstrates the strength and ongoing commitment of the banking industry to our state and its future."

As part of this exciting initiative launch in Fall 2023, select students enrolled in the McCoy College of Business will have the unique opportunity to earn a banking certificate by completing 12 credit hours of bank-specific courses. In addition, in 2024, the program will introduce additional content to equip students for the ever-evolving role that technology, particularly FinTech, plays in the financial services industry.

"We greatly appreciate the Texas Bankers Association's partnership with our Department of Finance and Economics in building a top-notch banking program," said Dr. Sanjay Ramchander, Dean of the McCoy College of Business. "This investment by the TBA Foundation is a testament to the important work of McCoy College in producing accomplished graduates who are ready to succeed in the banking industry. The foundation's commitment is an important building block that will help us reach our vision of transforming the lives of our students and defining the future of business in Texas and beyond."

The McCoy College of Busines also announced the appointment of James "Jimmy" Allen, a highly respected 40-year career banker, as the Program Director for this exciting new program. Allen will serve as the point person not only in the classroom but also as a bridge to the local banking community.

With an initial cohort of 24 students, McCoy College is well on its way to becoming a highly regarded institution in the development of tomorrow's bank leaders.

Brent Cox, Vice President at the Texas Bankers Association, collaborated closely with Jason Qualls, Senior Vice President at Frost, to lay the groundwork for this venture within the TXST McCoy College of Business.
