SAN MARCOS, Texas — After a national search, the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University has announced that Gina Escamilla will be the inaugural Director of its new Student Success Center. Escamilla's position will begin January 30.

In a message shared with McCoy College faculty and staff on Thursday, Jan. 19, Dean Sanjay Ramchander congratulated Escamilla and welcomed her to the new role.

"Last year I announced the creation of a new Student Success Center aimed at accelerating the preparation of McCoy College students for academic and career success, as well as a lifetime of leadership and achievement," Dean Ramchander wrote. "Today I am excited to announce that Gina Escamilla will be the inaugural Director of the new Student Success Center. As director, Gina will provide leadership and oversight for the center and be responsible for the development and implementation of student success programs for undergraduate students in the McCoy College of Business."

"Many of you already know Gina in her role as Academic Advisor II in the CenturyLink Academic Advising Center here at McCoy College," Dean Ramchander wrote. "She is incredibly passionate about student success and thrilled to continue supporting our McCoy College students in her new role."

Escamilla has been an academic advisor at Texas State since 2015 — she began advising at the Round Rock Campus and transferred to McCoy College in 2017. In her time as an academic advisor, along with enthusiastically assisting students as they navigate their academic degree programs and graduation, she has also presented at various regional and national conferences on topics related to student and employee development, training, and strategies for continuous improvement. Escamilla is a proud, two-time alumna of Texas State, holding a B.B.A. in Management and a M.Ed. in Management of Technical Education.

The new Student Success Center will be the first of its kind at Texas State University and among only a handful of such centers in business schools across the nation. It will be located on the first floor of McCoy Hall and will be one of the focal points of the college, elevating the entire student learning experience. McCoy College plans to begin facilities renovation on March 13, during spring break; the college anticipates the center opening in fall 2023. ✯
