The McCoy College of Business has provided me with exceptional opportunities that have helped me build a strong foundation of professional skills and meaningful connections. I served as the VP of professional development for the Society for Human Resource Management, where I expanded my network and strengthened my leadership abilities through coordinating events, hosting guest speakers, and attending conferences. I was also selected for the Dean’s Leadership Academy, a cohort of 15 students focused on leadership development. Through this program, I was paired with a mentor and participated in numerous professional development activities, including a once‑in‑a‑lifetime trip to India with Dean Sanjay Ramchander. This global immersion allowed me to explore a new culture and learn directly from organizations through on‑site visits. Additionally, I completed two internships secured through career fairs and mentorship guidance. These experiences allowed me to apply my HR knowledge and refine my professional skills. The opportunities for professional growth at McCoy College are endless if you take advantage of them. I feel confident and prepared for my future because my college values my success!

McCoy College gave me more than a stellar business education; it helped me forge a roadmap for navigating college and the professional life beyond it. The faculty and staff, especially within business management and finance & economics, showed me what it truly means for an institution to invest in its students. That people-first attention inspired me to maintain a high GPA, lead the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society as president, and earn induction into Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society. I could not have achieved all of these without the supportive community that McCoy College provided. Working as a student worker in Academic Operations within the business college helped me understand how thoughtful, people-centered leadership shapes an entire organization. That experience sparked my passion for pursuing a career in human resources. Because my time at McCoy College was so enriching, I was inspired to enroll in the MBA program with a concentration in strategic human resources. I look forward to this next chapter in building a career in people operations and helping organizations recognize that their employees are their greatest strength.

I have had such a great experience attending the McCoy College of Business. Over the past four years, I have developed not only professionally but also personally. I was able to grow by taking advantage of the many opportunities the college provides, such as the Dean's Leadership Academy, the Student Managed Investment Fund, career fairs, and other events hosted by the college. My proudest achievement was being part of and eventually leading the Financial Management Association at Texas State. This gave me the opportunity to give back and help other students as they go through their professional development and career journey. Through these experiences, I successfully landed a full-time offer as an Investment Banking Analyst at Fifth Third Bank in Chicago!

Looking back, my time at Texas State and the McCoy College of Business has been defined by growth and a constant push to improve myself. I’ve stepped outside my comfort zone, taking on new roles and opportunities that have helped me grow academically and professionally. I especially value the friendships I’ve built, the support of the accounting faculty, and the McCoy College community. Together, they’ve encouraged me to aim higher and pursue greater goals. These relationships made my experience at McCoy College even more meaningful. After graduation, I will begin a tax internship with Crowe in Austin. In the fall, I will start my master’s in accounting at the University of Texas at Austin and continue working toward becoming a CPA.

My time at Texas State University has been nothing short of amazing. Coming in as a transfer student, I was nervous, but I quickly found myself falling in love with Texas State and, more specifically, McCoy College. McCoy College has been more than just a business school to me; it has given me some of the best years of my life. As a sophomore, I had the incredible opportunity to study abroad in Italy, where I explored a new culture while earning credit toward my degree. In my senior year, I was selected for the Dean’s Leadership Academy, where I was paired with a mentor and learned to become a more effective, intentional leader. That experience, along with traveling to India over spring break to immerse myself in the culture and learn from global businesses, has truly broadened my perspective on life. I was also proud to be one of 10 students to refound the Alpha Kappa Psi chapter on campus. Being involved beyond the classroom helped shape my college experience in the best way. I have gained leadership skills, confidence, and meaningful connections. After graduating, I plan to pursue a career in financial analysis, with hopes of working with international companies. McCoy College has truly shaped who I am, and I am incredibly grateful for all the opportunities, mentors, and friendships I have gained along the way.
