POLICY STATEMENT

This policy describes the process for determining that McCoy College undergraduate students have satisfied requirements for graduation. Graduate student certification is processed by the Graduate College.

AA/PPS No. 02.02.30 Undergraduate Academic Advising Policies

GENERAL INFORMATION

1. A degree audit is generated for undergraduate students concurrent with their admission to the McCoy College through the degree audit system. Students may view their degree audit through CatsWeb. In order to graduate, students are required to apply for graduation upon satisfactory completion of the requirements specified in the degree audit.

2. For the purpose of monitoring progress toward their specific degrees, students are encouraged to work with an advisor in the McCoy College CenturyLink Advising Center when they are within 30 semester hours of completing the curriculum requirements listed in the degree audit.

3. Degree audits of candidates for graduation are reviewed and the Graduation Checklist completed to ensure that each candidate has:

A. completed at least 120 semester hours;

B. satisfied the course and hour requirements specified in the respective catalog (including the general education, foreign language, advanced hours and writing intensive course requirements);

C. achieved minimum grade point averages as follows: 2.00 Texas State GPA, 2.25 business GPA (consisting of the business core, courses required for the major, and restricted business electives), 2.00 major GPA (2.5 major GPA for accounting majors), and 2.00 GPA in the minor for  those degrees requiring a minor; and

D. satisfied residency requirements.

4. Substitutions in or exceptions to the specified curriculum for a particular degree (3.b.) must be approved in writing as follows:

5. The dean of the college must approve deviations in the degree requirements (3.d.).

6. When it has been determined that a student has satisfied all requirements for graduation, the dean (or dean designee) indicates such completion in the Banner system and initials the Graduation Checklist.

7. If it is determined that a student does not satisfy the requirements for graduation, the dean (or dean designee) indicates the deficiency on the Graduation Checklist. Notification is given to students who do not satisfy graduation requirements; in this notification, students are directed to contact the McCoy College Advising Center to develop a plan to satisfy remaining degree requirements in a subsequent semester.

CERTIFICATION STATEMENT

This CBAPPS has been approved by the reviewers listed below and represents the McCoy College of Business policy and procedure from the date of the document until superseded.
