Fields Chair in Ethics and Corporate Responsibility
McCoy College of Business, Texas State University

Robert (Bob) Giacalone, Ph.D. is the Fields Chair in Ethics and Corporate Responsibility at the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University. Bob has taught a range of behavioral courses from business ethics to organizational behavior/human resource management, and international management—and has taught at the undergraduate, master's (MBA, Executive MBA, M.A. in Human Resource Management), and doctoral levels. 

Bob has been the Series Editor for the Sage Series in Business Ethics, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Management, Spirituality, and Religion, and editor of several special journal issues. He is currently co-editor of the Ethics in Practice book series and serves on several journal editorial boards. He has edited/authored 10 books and over 130 articles on business ethics, social responsibility and values, impression management, and exit interviewing. His articles have appeared in journals such as the Academy of Management Learning and Education, Journal of Applied Psychology, Human Relations, Business and Society Review, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Business Ethics Education, and Journal of Social Psychology

Bob has had consulting roles with large organizations in different sectors, including the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, PERSEREC, (a security division of the U.S. Department of Defense), FBI, Dominion Energy, Battelle, The Human Resources Research Organization, Noland Company, and the Federal Reserve Bank.

Ilana is a Director in PwC Labs (Emerging Tech & AI), where she serves as one of the leads for Artificial Intelligence. Ilana specializes in applying machine learning and simulation modeling to address client needs across sectors regarding strategic deployment of new services, operational efficiencies, geospatial analytics, explainability and bias. Ilana is a Certified Ethical Emerging Technologist, is listed as one of 100 “Brilliant Women in AI Ethics” in 2020, and was recently recognized in Forbes as one of 15 leaders advancing Ethical AI. Since 2018, she has led PwC’s efforts globally in the development of cutting-edge approaches to build and deploy Responsible AI.


Bernard Koelmel

International Visiting Research Scholar
McCoy College of Business, Texas State University

Currently an international visiting research scholar at the McCoy College of Business, Dr. Bernhard Koelmel is a professor of Global Process Management at Pforzheim University School of Engineering in Germany.  There, he serves as the Scientific Director of the Institute for Smart Systems and Services and conducts research in the area of future-oriented technologies, products and solutions at the interface of sustainable management, and technological potentials, including cloud, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, metaverse, and blockchain.

Dr. Koelmel also works as a senior expert for German and international ministries, the European Commission, and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). He serves on advisory boards of 11 international high-tech companies. He is active as an innovation and technology evangelist and also holds the Chair of Strategic Technology Management at International School of Management (ISM) in Paris and New York.

After completing his doctorate at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Dr. Koelmel worked for 15 years in the fields of strategy, innovation, and business design for leading technology companies and start-ups in Silicon Valley and around the world.


Dr. Haniyeh Mahmoudian

Dr. Haniyeh Mahmoudian

Global AI Ethicist

Haniyeh is a Global AI Ethicist at DataRobot’s Trusted AI team. Her research focuses on bias, privacy, robustness and stability, and ethics in AI and Machine Learning. She has a demonstrated history of implementing ML and AI in a variety of industries and initiated the incorporation of bias and fairness feature into DataRobot product. She is a thought leader in the area of AI bias and ethical AI. Haniyeh holds a Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn.

In her role as associate dean, Dr. Alexis Stokes facilities faculty policies, professional development, research programs, global engagement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Her own scholarship focuses on securities litigation, corporate governance, and international dispute resolution. Dr. Stokes earned her B.A. in Economics, Political Science, and Managerial Studies from Rice University and her J.D. from Harvard Law School.
